Set off on your own spiritual journey!
The ‘Footsteps’ discussion Group was born out of the Adult Confirmation classes which were held for those confirmed in Spring 2010. In those classes those being confirmed were joined by their partners, and a few members of the congregation who came along in support of the ministerial team (Andrew and Barbara) and also of those being confirmed. Normally we number about 10 – 14.
The name ‘Footsteps’ and the poster were designed by Joanna, a member of the Group who described the sessions as a spiritual journey….. and we all agreed! These discussions were so interesting, thought provoking, questioning, challenging, inspiring and enlightening that after the Confirmation, the Group unanimously voted to continue meeting together to further explore the bible, our faith, and our understanding of what it means to us personally to be a Christian in today’s world. In fact after each meeting we all come away having learnt something about ourselves as well as our faith. Our Rector Andrew who has designed and led many of the discussions even admits to gaining much from the Group.
If it sounds to be heavy going, it isn’t, …… in fact it’s quite the reverse and after starting with a cup of tea and a biscuit, the meeting is light and friendly and there is no pressure to join in (listening is fine, honestly), but we bet it wouldn’t be too long before you would want to have your say. Please note, this is not a ‘Bible Study’ Group in its truest sense, …it’s more of a ‘Christian Study’ Group with a wide and varied range of subjects.
Neither is it an exclusive little club within the Church and we would really love to see you at any of our meetings. We usually discuss a different topic each month, so you can normally ‘jump in’ at any meeting without any preparation and you certainly don’t have to worry that we will all know more than you, because frankly you will know as much as any of us.
We try to meet just once each month on a Sunday evening in the Church Hall, at 7.00pm or 7.30pm, and we arrange the date and time of the next meeting at the end of the meeting, so there is no fixed Sunday in the month.
If you would like to come along, then just have a word with Andrew or Barbara.
